Incredibly influential musician who has had a direct influence on jazz, rock, Jazz-Rock, Comedy, and Captain Beefheart.
In his 33-year career (cut short in 1993 due to prostate cancer), Frank Zappa released more than 60 albums.
He self-produced all of his music, and practically every album he put out was made up of entirely original material.
Zappa met Don Van Vliet (Captain Beefheart) in 1956, while the two attended Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, Calif.
In 1995, two years after his death, a bust of Frank Zappa was erected in the town square of Vilnius, Lithuania.
