After the English Beat split, vocalists Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger formed this accessible, poppy modern rock act.
They released two albums in the mid-1980s, then reformed for one more in 1995.
General Public reunited in the mid-90s and had a hit with their cover of the Staple Singers' "I?ll Take You There."
