June of 44's edgy Indie Rock is beautiful in a distorted, understated way. The songs are chillingly bleak, with guitars that spasmodically emit clangorous chords beneath sighed vocals and pained wails. Even when they erupt into pure noise and angry screams, there is a sinuous flow that softens the hard edges; a pervasive calm in chaos.
