This young trio from San Diego plays devastatingly beautiful bluegrass and folk songs sung by an angelic-voiced singer. Mandolin prodigy Chris Thile of Nickel Creek has a fruitful solo recording career, as does guitar player Sean Watkins. Alison Krauss is rumored to have "discovered" Nickel Creek playing their gossamer bluegrass in a San Diego pizza restaurant. Nickel Creek love Toad the Wet Sprocket so much that they warm up before every live performance with various T.T.W.S covers. Nickel Creek recorded an album with singer Glen Phillips from Toad the Wet Sprocket under the name Mutual Admiration Society.
